How to create an event RSVP form in Makeform
Build an RSVP form for free in the form editor to collect attendance, guest counts, and dietary needs. Use ending logic under Manage post submit actions to show different thank-you pages based on the attendance answer.
Is it free? Yes. RSVP fields and ending logic are free; confirmation emails to guests require Pro or Business.
Steps
- Describe your RSVP form at makeform.ai/create, with no account needed to start. Then adjust it with AI or add fields manually.
- Click + (Add form element) and use Input blocks. Add Short Text Input for a name and Email Input for an email address.
- Add Multiple Choice · Select One for attendance, with Yes, No, and Maybe as the answers. Add Number Input for guests and Long Text Input for dietary needs.
- Add a choice field for a meal or session. If an option has limited seats, use Limit responses per option and set its limit. Full options show Full.
- Use Add ending to create an attending ending with the event date, time and place in a Text block, plus a short “Sorry you can't make it” ending.
- Under the last page's submit button, click Manage post submit actions to open Post-submit actions. In Ending logic, click Add rule. Set When field to the attendance question, choose equals, set Value to Yes, and set Go to to the attending ending. Set Fallback ending (when no rule matches) to the other ending.
- Set an RSVP deadline or overall submission limit under Settings > Access. Use Close on scheduled date for a deadline or Limit number of submissions with Maximum submissions for a response cap.
Choose the ending for each answer
Ending rules are checked in order, and the first matching rule wins. With the single Yes rule above, both No and Maybe reach the fallback ending. Choose fallback text that fits those answers, or add a separate rule and ending for Maybe.
Tickets and email confirmations
To charge for a ticket, add a Payment block and follow the Stripe payment tutorial. Makeform charges no payment fee; Stripe's fees apply.
Owner email notifications are free. Sending a confirmation email to the guest requires respondent email notifications on Pro or Business.

Can I collect RSVPs without charging guests?
Yes, the RSVP fields are free. A payment block is optional if you want to charge for tickets.
Can I limit places in a session?
Yes, use Limit responses per option on the session choice field. An option displays Full when its limit is reached.
Can I show event details only to people who say Yes?
Yes, put the event details on the attending ending and use an ending rule that sends the Yes answer to that page. The Add to Calendar block needs a Date Picker answer from the respondent, so it is meant for booking forms rather than a fixed event date.
Can RSVPs close on a date?
Yes, enable Close on scheduled date under Settings > Access. Set the timezone, date, and time for the deadline.
