Form Settings

Customize how your form behaves and appears to respondents. Access form settings by opening a form and navigating to the Settings tab.

General

Anti-Bot Protection (Level 1)

Enable honeypot field detection to automatically block spam submissions. Recommended for all public forms to reduce spam.

Reduce Motion

Disable page transition effects for simpler and faster navigation. Improves accessibility for users who prefer reduced motion.

Redirect on Completion

Redirect respondents to a custom URL after form submission. URL must start with http:// or https://.

Hidden Fields

Add custom hidden fields to capture additional data like UTM parameters, user IDs, or referral codes without showing them to respondents. Field names must start with a letter and can only contain letters, numbers, and underscores.


Branding

Branding customization requires a Pro plan.

Show Loading Screen

Display a loading screen when your form first loads.

Show Custom Message on Loading Screen

Display a custom message on the loading screen instead of the default text. Maximum 100 characters.

Show “Powered by” Badge

Show or hide the “Powered by Makeform” badge on your form. Hidden by default for Pro users.

Show or hide the Makeform link on the thank you page after form submission.


Tracking

Google Analytics (GA4)

Track form views and interactions with Google Analytics 4. Enter your GA4 Measurement ID (format: G-XXXXXXXXXX). Learn more about finding your Measurement ID.

Requires a Pro plan.


Access

Close Form

Prevent new responses to your form. When enabled, visitors will see a custom message instead of the form.

Show Custom Message on Closed Form

Customize the message shown when your form is closed. Include a title and description to inform visitors why the form is unavailable.


Behavior

Save Answers for Later

Allow respondents to save their progress in the browser and return later. Progress is saved locally on the same device and browser. Enabled by default.

Auto-Jump to Next Page

Automatically advance to the next page when a question is answered. Works with single multiple choice (without “Other” option), single select, rating, or opinion scale questions. Only one question per page.
