‘Usually,’ ‘this week,’ and ‘during the program’ can produce very different answers. Open with the purpose and choose one timeframe that matches the decision cycle. Recurring pulses need a recent, stable window; a program review should point to the specific event or series.
- State who is asking, why, and how aggregated results will be used.
- Use a clear reference period such as the past two weeks or this program cycle.
- Estimate completion time honestly and explain whether questions are optional.
