# How to collect payments in a Makeform form with Stripe

Add a **Payment** block in the form editor and connect your Stripe account to collect fixed or calculated payments. The block is free on every plan, and money goes to your own Stripe account.

**Is it free?** Makeform takes no fee on payments; Stripe's normal processing fees apply and are paid by your Stripe account.

## Steps

1. Sign in to your Makeform account, open the form in the editor, and click **+** (**Add form element**).
2. Under **Input blocks**, choose **Payment**. You can also ask the AI: “Add prices and payment.”
3. Click **Connect with Stripe**, finish Stripe's onboarding, and return to Makeform. You need a Stripe account; you can create one during onboarding.
4. In the block settings, set **Amount (in cents)** and **Currency**. For example, 2500 represents 25.00.
5. For a fixed price, keep **Amount Type** set to **Fixed Amount**. For a price based on answers, choose **Dynamic (Calculated)** and set **Calculate From Field** to a number or calculation field.
6. For a calculated price, choose **Dynamic Mode**: **Field Value → Amount** or **Base Amount × Field Value**. Optionally set **Minimum Amount (in cents)**, **Maximum Amount (in cents)**, and **Payment Description**.
7. Publish the form and make a test payment.

## Calculate a price from answers

With **Field Value → Amount**, the referenced value is read in normal currency units. A value of 75 charges 75.00.

With **Base Amount × Field Value**, the referenced value multiplies **Amount (in cents)**. For example, quantity 3 multiplied by a base amount of 2500 charges 75.00.

Makeform recalculates dynamic amounts on the server from the answers. Use a number field or a [calculation field](/help/features/calculator) as the source for a calculated payment.

## Currencies and the payment experience

The **Currency** setting offers USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF, CNY, and INR.

Respondents see the amount and pay inline with Stripe, where they see **Secured by Stripe**. After payment, they see **Payment Successful**. Stripe emails the receipt. You are the merchant, and payments go to your own Stripe account.

## Connection and form restrictions

:::callout{type="info"}
If Stripe is not connected, the Payment block is left out of the live form. Connect Stripe before publishing and testing your payment flow.
:::

You cannot use **Prevent duplicate submissions** on a form with a Payment field. To disconnect Stripe, use **Disconnect** in the block's settings.

Makeform is a free AI form builder: describe what you want to collect and it builds the form for you, with unlimited forms and submissions on the free plan.
